The Illusion of Freedom

A certain cause celebre that went viral in the past 48 hours (which you may or may not be aware of) inspired me to make an observation.

I really wanted to avoid getting into the actual blowup because what was reported is so false it defies even my extreme cynicism. In short, a bunch of like-minded men throughout the world wanted to meet up with each other and have beers and it got touted throughout the entire Western media as “legal rape meetups.” It got so bad the meetups were canceled out of fear for the safety of those attending.

Meanwhile, actual sexual assaults are rampant in countries like Sweden and Germany, where the governments are actively importing people from Third World Countries who are committing the assaults. Their response? Having Facebook censor those posts and comments while the governments control the media narrative.

It’s just evil, pure and simple.

But my thought was this: We in the West are free the same way people who live in a neighborhood run by the Mafia are free. You’re free as long as they don’t want anything you have or you give them what they want when they demand it, or you don’t pose a threat to them. You’re free inasmuch as you play by their rules and don’t cause a fuss.

But the moment you pose a viable threat, the moment you refuse to give them what they want, the moment you try to organize against them, any concept of rights go right out the door. The only thing that protects you are the consequences that might be incurred from violating them. Any appeal to reason, logic, good faith, morality, truth, objectivity, law are futile; you might as well try them with a mobster hitman come to kill you.

If they could lock you up indefinitely, drag you off to a gulag, or kill you outright – and get away with it – they would. They allow us the illusion of freedom for the same reason the Mafia doesn’t always resort to violence; if they went too far it would cost them, because then we might actually pose a real threat.

The more of a threat you are, the closer you are to exposing the vulnerability of the system and threaten the very core of the ideology behind it, the less pretense they will maintain about thinking you have rights until they openly proclaim their disgust with rights and hatred of liberty.

You have the right to adhere to The Vision™ as decreed by the state priests. Comply, stand aside, or die.

Understand this now; we will never solve the problem from the top down, if for no other reason than the state and its social justice warrior sycophants will squash any effort to do so – unless you think a civil war is a great way to achieve freedom.

It has to start from the bottom up, one person, one conversation, one book suggestion at a time.

Do not fight yesterday’s war when you’re the insurgency.

The problem with the bottom to top approach is that people’s acceptance of govt is inversely proportional to the distance from that govt. The closer we are to our govt (county commission, school board), the more acceptable the decrees are and the farther away (federal and state govt) the less accepting we are of invasive govt. Which makes sense because they may feel like they have more of a say in local affairs where they don’t in federal affairs. The solution may be to have a middle-out approach. Interesting topic to say the least. Btw, what is going viral? I’m not aware of anything. Don’t get out enough I guess.

  3. As i have said in comments in the past on several occasions (in other places): Democracy is a pacifier. When it no longer properly pacifies the populations and the threat to power they pose, democracy will have stopped fulfilling its function for the elites.
